“When I am in a serious humour, I very often walk by myself in Westminster Abbey, where the gloominess of the place, and the use to which it is applied, with solemnity of the building, and the condition of the people who lie in it, are apt to fill the mind with a kind of melancholy, or rather thoughtfulness, that is not disagreeable.”

問(wèn)“天道忌滿，人道忌全。”的翻譯。我的回復(fù)是： Perfection is always a forbidding word for the divine, and fullness, the human. 后來(lái)想到：在沒(méi)有上下文的時(shí)候?yàn)榇_保西方人一看就懂，一個(gè)更好的版本應(yīng)該是： Never overdo anything, whoever you are, the divine or the human.
天下皆知美之為美，斯惡矣﹔皆知善之為善，斯不善矣
