Nowadays，children spend too much time? watching TV and playing computer games. Some people believe this has negative effects on children's mental abilities. To what extent do you agree or disagree？

如果寫成看太長時(shí)間電視或玩電腦游戲會損害孩子們的視力，那么就跑題了。題目中問的是對于mental abilities的影響，所以要搞清楚的是 mental abilities 是什么？

在我看來，限定詞 mental abilities 可理解為智力、心理和社交能力。

題目大意：有的人認(rèn)為孩子們花過多的時(shí)間看電視和玩電腦游戲，對于他們的mental abilities有不良影響。

因?yàn)轭}目中有 too much time，所以我們寫弊端更容易。

個(gè)人觀點(diǎn)：我同意題目觀點(diǎn)。注意限定詞 mental abilities

弊端1：長時(shí)間看電視和打游戲，導(dǎo)致孩子們沒有時(shí)間進(jìn)行社會交往 socialize with their peers，影響到他們的社交技能和情商 social skills and emotional intelligence，有的人可能會說打游戲也需要隊(duì)友之間的配合cooperation between team members，但是這種虛擬世界virtual space 里面的游戲不能取代真實(shí)生活中的體育活動(dòng)或者朋友聚會，那些脫離現(xiàn)實(shí)的孩子不知道怎樣融入社會 get integrated into society。

弊端2：電視里面的故事和真實(shí)的生活有一定差距 gap between the fiction and reality，長時(shí)間看電視容易不僅容易上癮 get addicted，還會損害孩子們的解決實(shí)際問題的能力 damage their problem-sloving ability。如果在現(xiàn)實(shí)生活中遇到挫折encounter setbacks，他們很容易變得沮喪become frustrated，而且電視和游戲里面還充斥著一些暴力內(nèi)容 be inundated with violence，長期打游戲的孩子可能變得沖動(dòng)易怒 aggressive and irritable，習(xí)慣用暴力解決問題use violence to settle disputes。

弊端3：長時(shí)間看電視的孩子們?nèi)菀鬃儜校ó吘拐旄C在沙發(fā)或躺在床上），導(dǎo)致孩子們?nèi)狈Κ?dú)立思考的能力 lack the ability to think independently，而且想象力容易受到限制 be restricted in their imagination，因?yàn)樗械漠嬅娑急怀尸F(xiàn)在他們面前 be presented before them。而沉迷于某一種游戲的孩子 be addicted to a certain game，他們的眼光和視野一定是非常狹窄的 have a narrow vision，如果他們用這個(gè)時(shí)間去讀書和旅游，可以讓自己變得博學(xué) become knowledgable，還能開拓視野 broaden their horizon。
