?注1. 英語中，見面時(shí)的問候語可分為兩種：
?（1）熟人之間較隨便的：Hello. 或 How are you? 也可以放在一起用：Hello. How are you? 回答時(shí)說 Fine, thank you. 或 Very well, thanks.
?（2）初次見面時(shí)比較正式的問候：How do you do? 回答時(shí)也說 How do you do? 這句話保持了問句的形式，實(shí)際上是不用回答的，是問候用語。How d'you do?是口語中常用的省略形式，請(qǐng)注意發(fā)音/ha? dju du/。
?注2. 自我介紹時(shí)說：I'm … 或 My name's…。介紹第三者時(shí)說：This is (Bill). 如果被介紹者較遠(yuǎn)，就說：That is …。
?注3. John, you know. 原句是 You know John.
?注4. Come here. 是英語的祈使句。
?注5. Nice to meet you. 意思是見到你很高興。

2. Who's that?

?在酒店里，約翰與另一個(gè)人座在桌子旁，那人不斷地向他打聽周圍的人。
?Second man: Who's that?
?John: That's Barbara.
?Second man: Is she your sister?
?John: No. No, she isn't my sister.
?Second man: Oh. She's your girlfriend.
?John: No.
?Second man: And who's that? Is that Barbara's brother?
?John: No, it isn't. It's her husband.
?Second man: Oh. Look! Is that Francis Matthews.
?John: Yes, it is.
?Second man: Who's that? Is it his wife?
?John: No. It's his girlfriend, Kathy.

?注6. Who's that? 是 Who is that? 的簡(jiǎn)略形式。that是指遠(yuǎn)處的人。答 That's Bill. (That is Bill.) 或 It's Bill.
?注7. 提到不在身邊的人時(shí)，可以用 it 代替 he、she，或用 that 來指人，如課文中 John: No. it isn't. It's he husband. 再如，問：Is that Francis Matthews? 答：Yes, it is. 或 No, it isn't. It's Sam Smith.
?注8. 這一課我們學(xué)了兩種疑問句，一種是以 who、what、how 等開頭的特殊疑問句，回答時(shí)就疑問句提出的問題回答。如：Who's that? That's Barbara. 或 It's Barbara. / What's your name? My name is Sam Smith. / How are you? Fince, thanks.
?另一種疑問句叫一般疑問句，提出“是不是”的問題，回答要回答“是”與“不是”。如：Is she your sister? Yes, she is. She is my sister. 或 No, she isn't. She isn't my sisiter.
?清注意疑問句與回答的語序的不同，兩種疑問句使用的語調(diào)也不同，一般疑問句用升調(diào)，特殊疑問句用降調(diào)。如：Is she your sister?↑ Who's that?↓
?注9. my 我的；your 你的，你們的；his 他的；her 她的。這些是人稱代詞的所有格，表明屬某人所有。在人名或其他名詞后加“ 's ”表明屬某人（或物）所有，如 Barbara's brother.
?注10. 英語中 sister 既可指姐姐，也可指妹妹。brother 既可指哥哥，也要指弟弟。英國人一般情況下不必說明是哥哥還是弟弟，是姐姐還是妹妹。

?注11. 在口語中，常用陳述句升調(diào)來提問。如：Your boyfriend?
?注12: 英語地址先說門牌號(hào)，然后說路名，最后才是城市名，恰好和我們的習(xí)慣相反。門牌號(hào)和路名之間可以加逗號(hào)： 7, London Road，但不加也可以：7 London Road，路名和城市名第一個(gè)字母要有大寫。
