Today is Monday.

Papa got up early and made up himself for fetching Sarah. Caleb and I were very anxious for Sarah's coming. Would she like us?Would she like our house? Would she love this place without anything about sea? The sound and dust told us that they were coming back by a wagon which had been prepared by Papa for a long time. We saw the yellow bonnet first. And when the wagon stopped before our house, we saw her. She was plain and tall, just as she had said in the letter. She get off the wagon with a suitcase and then carefully opened it. The cat Seal came out of it. Our dogs sniffed it and lay down. Sarah grabbed our hands with her rough hands. She gave Caleb a shell, which she called moon snail. She gave me a stone which is the whitest and roundest one I had ever seen. She looked at the plain field, but she didn't smile. Caleb and I saw, Papa not, that she was already lonely. A month's time was long enough for Sarah to change her mind and leave us, though we did wish she could stay.
