英英釋義：If an event leaves people or things in a particular state, they are in that state when the event has finished.

例句：The accident left him crippled.

2. 體會

我們很熟悉“l(fā)eave”是“離開”的意思，不過它也可以表示“造成” “導(dǎo)致”，很多時候都可以用來替換“cause” “make”等詞。

比如根據(jù)同名書籍改編的電影 Me Before You（《遇見你之前》）中，高富帥男主在一場車禍中全身癱瘓，頸部以下都無法活動。這時我們就可以說：
