A virtual kidnapping（綁架） scam（騙局） targeting female Chinese students has hit Vancouver.
近日，溫哥華發(fā)生了一起針對(duì)中國(guó)女學(xué)生的虛擬綁架案。

According to the RCMP（加拿大皇家騎警隊(duì)）, the cyber extortion（敲詐） scheme(計(jì)劃) tricks victims into believing their loved ones have been kidnapped. It’s a scheme that has been reported worldwide.
根據(jù)加拿大皇家騎警隊(duì)的描述，這個(gè)網(wǎng)絡(luò)勒索計(jì)劃敲詐了受害者，讓他們相信自己的親人被綁架了。這個(gè)計(jì)劃之前已經(jīng)被全球報(bào)道過(guò)。

Now it appears there have been six incidents reported in the Lower Mainland.
現(xiàn)在它出現(xiàn)在洛厄·梅因蘭的報(bào)道中。

The RCMP, who is in contact with the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Vancouver, is working with other police agencies（中介） as well as a liaison（聯(lián)絡(luò)） officer in China to further investigate（調(diào)查）.

Mounties said Chinese students in Canada were initially contacted through an automated phone message that urges them to call Chinese officials after being told their personal information had been compromised（被盜用） and they are now connected to crimes in China.
梅因蘭說(shuō)，加拿大的中國(guó)學(xué)生之前沒(méi)有接觸過(guò)自動(dòng)發(fā)送消息的手機(jī)，這些手機(jī)發(fā)送短信在告訴他們他們的個(gè)人信息已經(jīng)被盜用，呼吁它們撥打中國(guó)官方的電話。并且這起犯罪與中國(guó)的犯罪有關(guān)系。

The suspects（嫌疑犯）, who claim（聲稱） they are Chinese government officials, then coerce（強(qiáng)迫） the victims into a series of actions and if they don’t comply, they’re told their families back in China will be hurt.
聲稱自己是中國(guó)政府官方人員的嫌疑犯接著強(qiáng)迫受害者進(jìn)行了一系列的行動(dòng)，并且聲稱如果她們沒(méi)有全部完成自己的要求，他們會(huì)傷害受害者的家人。

At the same time, the parents of the victims are contacted and convinced（確信的） their family members are being held against their will; which leads to a demand for money.
與此同時(shí)，嫌疑人與受害者的父母取得聯(lián)系，并使他們相信他們的家庭成員被強(qiáng)行拘留；嫌疑人通過(guò)這種行為索要錢。

The PRC Consulate General would like Chinese students studying in Vancouver to know the following:
中華人民共和國(guó)大使館要求在溫哥華學(xué)習(xí)的中國(guó)學(xué)生知道以下事情：

“Should any Chinese citizens be involved in any legal cases in China, the relevant legal documents will be mailed to them directly from Chinese diplomatic（外交） missions. No phone call will be made to verify any personal information, especially the personal banking information.”
“中國(guó)公民在中國(guó)境內(nèi)發(fā)生法律案件，有關(guān)法律文件將由中國(guó)駐外國(guó)使領(lǐng)館直接郵寄給中國(guó)公民。沒(méi)有任何電話會(huì)要求任何人的個(gè)人信息，特別是個(gè)人的銀行賬戶信息?！?/p>

The RCMP said anyone who gets this type of call or message should not comply（遵從） with the demands.
加拿大皇家騎警隊(duì)表示收到這類電話或短信的人不應(yīng)該遵從與這些要求。

“We are very concerned that there may be more victims and we do understand that people may have some apprehension（恐懼） about coming forward,” said Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau said in a release（公開(kāi)）.
“我們特別關(guān)系這里可能會(huì)發(fā)生更多犯罪行為，并且我們特別理解人們會(huì)為未來(lái)感到懼怕，”工作人員中士安妮·林托公開(kāi)地說(shuō)。

“But, I want to assure you that the police are here to help you and we will thoroughly（徹底地） investigate these incidents.”

Anyone who may be a victim of this crime is asked to call their local police department, RCMP detachment（分遣隊(duì)） or Crime Stoppers.
