沒想到馬上八月底了。讀了幾本書，包括阿加莎的《無人生還》，和馬上終結(jié)的《東方快車謀殺案》。說實(shí)話，不是特別順暢因?yàn)槿嗣嗔?！最近需要注意用眼。有的時(shí)候不得不承認(rèn)手機(jī)的便捷性遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)超過紙質(zhì)書，隨時(shí)隨地拿起來翻閱，但看久了真得疲勞。以下是本月月初的筆記。一本紐伯瑞的《記憶傳授人》，閱讀難度不大，故事性還可以，但里面的價(jià)值觀個(gè)人持保留想法。
悲劇的美不在于痛苦，在于痛苦中的反抗。
這本書已經(jīng)讀完了。順帶想知道后續(xù)看了一下系列第四本Son的第一部分，突然就不想再看了。沒有了趣味性。The Giver拋除個(gè)人觀念和隱藏的色彩，單從故事來說還是可讀的一本書。但對(duì)這一類非黑即白對(duì)比太過鮮明的書并不推薦。八月份以來零散的記錄，就不改了，算是一個(gè)不大完整的讀書過程。
《記憶傳授人》屬于一本個(gè)人不大喜歡的類型書。以前就看過介紹，類似于《時(shí)間的褶皺》《華氏451》《美麗新世界》一類。多少也可以看出西方世界(美)的傲慢與淺薄，似乎一切的自由最終都落在簡(jiǎn)單的制度，或者溫和一點(diǎn)來說---規(guī)則之上。米蘭昆德拉也曾對(duì)這一類書的流行提出過批判，一種警示類的文學(xué)可以流行，但過度宣揚(yáng)鼓吹反而是一種文化流毒。歷史的犧牲會(huì)得到反思和糾正后繼續(xù)前行，這或許是種花家思想中的包容，沒有愈演愈烈的狹隘。
或許這多少是不大喜歡一些國(guó)外暢銷書的原因，不在于故事，而在于故事中隱約流淌的慕美情緒。說來也有趣，僅自己有限的閱讀經(jīng)歷，好看的美國(guó)文學(xué)也不過在南北，二戰(zhàn)，大蕭條左右層出不窮。而輝煌時(shí)期之后更多的是對(duì)大熔爐文化其他民族文學(xué)的推崇，讓人讀起其自身的文學(xué)反而很空洞。當(dāng)然社科類不算入內(nèi)。
以上算是翻書時(shí)的一點(diǎn)個(gè)人想法，因?yàn)橐呀?jīng)結(jié)束了菲茨杰拉德的《了不起的蓋茨比》(這書是真好看)和羅爾德的Kiss kiss，終于可以松口氣停下來，準(zhǔn)備翻閱一些以前羅列的書目。The Giver《記憶傳授人》個(gè)人并不推薦，不過確實(shí)想讀一讀，書也很簡(jiǎn)單(作者同樣寫過Number the Stars)，貌似很流行，得過紐伯瑞金獎(jiǎng)，就做一些簡(jiǎn)單的字詞筆記。有時(shí)候覺得書籍不僅僅是在看故事，故事背后的文化和思想如果不能正確對(duì)待也是一件可怕的事。

這一本書很簡(jiǎn)單，最重要的是會(huì)上下文給出一些解釋。
overwhelming中文為“壓倒性的”，此處通過上句a final decision, a terrible punishment可看出其意為“too much, such a statement of failure”

書剛開始讀，還不知要表達(dá)什么。只知道12歲是人生的選擇，將有一生的職業(yè)。所以小主人公Jonas對(duì)于即將到來的命運(yùn)有一些憂慮。他開始定位的詞為frightened，但這種未知又有一些期待和緊張，所以最終選用了apprehensive?！癆pprehensive, Jonas decided. That’s what I am.”
apprehensive中文為憂心忡忡，英文解釋為afraid of sth.that will happen.多指不好的事情，此處類似參加大考決定命運(yùn)的情緒。

每一個(gè)社區(qū)都有一個(gè)年老的智者，來決定規(guī)則。而這樣的人Jonas即使見過也不一定知道就是他。he knew of強(qiáng)調(diào)的是在Jonas的認(rèn)知里他不知道，而不是沒見過。
Usually, at the morning ritual when the family members told their dreams, Jonas didn’t contribute much. He rarely dreamed. Sometimes he awoke with a feeling of fragments afloat in his sleep, but he couldn’t seem to grasp them and put them together into something worthy of telling at the ritual.
第五章的開頭部分，讀這一段是因?yàn)楹驼谧x的《藝伎回憶錄》中小千代的夢(mèng)重合了。加句題外話，Memoirs of A Geisha并不推薦，前1/3很好看，后面就太過獵奇和庸俗，糟蹋了一個(gè)好故事。
They all listened carefully and discussed with Lily the warning that the dream had given.
“Thank you for your dream, Lily.” Jonas said the standard phrase automatically, and tried to pay better attention while his mother told of a dream fragment, a disquieting scene where she had been chastised for a rule infraction she didn’t understand. Together they agreed that it probably resulted from her feelings when she had reluctantly dealt punishment to the citizen who had broken the major rules a second time.
第五章開頭部分很有意思，其實(shí)讀過這幾章也很驚悚。人不能輕易犯錯(cuò)，超過三次，不然會(huì)被release, 解放，釋放不好定義的一個(gè)詞感覺更像exile。不能違規(guī)，上年紀(jì)到一定程度即使做出貢獻(xiàn)也要面臨這種命運(yùn)。晚上家庭聚會(huì)要回顧一天的想法，早晨家庭要一起探討夢(mèng)境啟示，這些都是不能違背的規(guī)定。

12月的慶典到了，首先是給社區(qū)的家庭發(fā)放領(lǐng)養(yǎng)的孩子。沒錯(cuò)，所有的孩子都是Birthmother生出來后統(tǒng)一養(yǎng)育，體弱不達(dá)標(biāo)的會(huì)被“流放”(手賤沒控制住查了下后續(xù)，原來released就是死亡)。一個(gè)家庭只能領(lǐng)養(yǎng)兩個(gè)孩子，一男一女。而人類產(chǎn)生的情緒尤其是stirring都會(huì)被每天一顆藥丸子洗去。這本書的描述其實(shí)挺好看，詞匯精準(zhǔn)。不過故事看多了都是套路，希望能平和把書讀完。
此處exuberant是指極度的喜悅，full of joy
"I know. But it was true, what she said, that someone did that once. She said that it was really true. Here today and gone tomorrow. Never seen again. Not even a Ceremony of Release."
Jonas shrugged. It didn't worry him. How could someone not fit in? The community was so meticulously(異常細(xì)致地) ordered, the choices so carefully made.

不知不覺到一半了，書還是略有趣味性，難度低，屬于dystopia(反烏托邦)。所謂批判不是非黑即白，而是給人思考。如同看待這個(gè)世界，為人正直要比為人善良分量更重一些。辯證看待事物發(fā)展，解決矛盾不僅僅是政治命題，經(jīng)濟(jì)命題也是一種人文思考。

因?yàn)楦鞣N不方便，糟糕的天氣，阻擋運(yùn)輸?shù)牡貏?shì)都被清除了，用記憶傳授老人的話說so it became obsolete when we went to Sameness.，小主人公很疑惑為什么老人不能將其保留。但社區(qū)給予the giver的是榮譽(yù)而不是權(quán)利。
Again and again he dreamed of the anguish and the isolation on the forsaken hill.
The daily training continued, and now it always included pain. The agony of the fractured leg began to seem no more than a mild discomfort as The Giver led Jonas firmly, little by little, into the deep and terrible suffering of the past.
書其實(shí)讀得很快，不知道今天能不能讀完。選取這一段是因?yàn)槌浞煮w現(xiàn)出這本書的用詞特點(diǎn)，精準(zhǔn)和相似比詞團(tuán)。
都是一些痛苦的表達(dá)，anguish ,agony,pain ,suffering這些讓豹豹莫名想起excruciating極其痛苦的。

permeate彌漫，滲透，充滿v.更接近于pervade(剛在馴龍高手里見過，這本書也出現(xiàn)過)，而不是fill
