在描寫Scarlett傳遞表達(dá)無聊、厭惡的場(chǎng)景時(shí)，Mitchell做了很好的示范。為什么Scarlett討厭戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)？是對(duì)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)本身的厭惡?jiǎn)?？在第一段的最后，我們可以感受到，因?yàn)榇蠹叶荚谡務(wù)搼?zhàn)爭(zhēng)，大家的注意力不可能再集中在Scarlett身上。這種注意力的缺失是多么的失落，何況可能的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)會(huì)毀了圣誕的派對(duì)! 對(duì)于Scarlett這樣在舞會(huì)派對(duì)上能夠星光奪目的女孩子，那個(gè)表現(xiàn)的舞臺(tái)如果不在，希望將變成失望，生活的多彩一下子蒼白。與之相對(duì)應(yīng)的，她周圍的人，特別是獲得鼓舞、肯定，讓虛榮心滿滿的來源——那些男人們，無論是Stuart兄弟，父親，以及其他的紳士們竟然無視我女人心，開口閉口，戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)！戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)與我何干？但倘若那該死的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)讓我偏離焦點(diǎn)，我也要讓它，即使僅僅在言語中消失！顯然，Scarlett有典型的女性心理特征——對(duì)于一個(gè)女孩子來講什么是最重要的，我就關(guān)注什么，但她同時(shí)又是那么的異別于其他的女性，那種骨子里透露出來的倔強(qiáng)、狠辣，誰讓她的父親是個(gè)IRISH. 同時(shí)，作為一個(gè)普通的女孩子，她也暫時(shí)只能shut the door, go in the house!

這里的“secession”的原意是withdraw, 但根據(jù)上下文的感覺，顯然Scarlett的心理期望是偶爾聊聊這個(gè)話題當(dāng)然可以，聊做消遣，可你從早到晚，時(shí)時(shí)不停的像蒼蠅一個(gè)樣，怎一個(gè)“煩”字了得？！
作者在本段似乎在注釋，Scarlett的性格素描在一正一側(cè)中呼之欲出，更妙的是作者筆鋒稍轉(zhuǎn)，描述Scarlett在色怒時(shí)候的聘目傳情。那個(gè)蝴蝶翅膀的比喻難道重點(diǎn)是翅膀嗎？花季的少女花季的蝴蝶，Stuart兄弟自然買賬了！拒絕是有技術(shù)的，不是生冷卻含淡意。Stuart小弟非但沒有怪罪，頭發(fā)長見識(shí)短，反而圓了借口，女人如是！
She meant what she said, for she could never long endure any conversation of which she was not the chief subject. But she smiled when she spoke, consciously deepening her dimple and fluttering her bristly black lashes as swiftly as butterflies' wings. The boys were enchanted, as she had intended them to be, and they hastened to apologize for boring her. They thought none the less of her for her lack of interest. Indeed, they thought more. War was men's business, not ladies', and they took her attitude as evidence of her femininity.
deep her dimple是為了可愛，flutter her lashes才含情脈脈。enchanted似有陶醉，hastened爭(zhēng)先恐后。thought none the less of her, 非但沒有看低，嗤之以鼻，femininity女人味十足womanliness！
無聲無形中，Scarlett化解了一個(gè)令自己不愉快的主題，接下來輪到Stuart兄弟尷尬了，由此還引出了站在他們背后的辣媽！看來，彪悍是不一樣的，Scarlett柔中帶剛，外圓內(nèi)韌；而Stuart兄弟生的生猛，但有了身體沒了腦袋，在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中化為了硝煙，而Scarlett雖歷經(jīng)磨難，但她最后還是生機(jī)盎然，"Tomorrow is another day." 曾經(jīng)的莽撞少年已看不到了。
Having maneuvered them away from the boring subject of war, she went back with interest to their immediate situation.
"What did your mother say about you two being expelled again?"

maneuver有操控，掌控的意思，來源于法語，所以音形在英語中有些古怪！immediate situation正是迫在眉睫之事，此中引發(fā)的尷尬是uncomfortable, laying out在英語中似乎有一個(gè)hanging out對(duì)應(yīng)，出來溜達(dá)，逛逛！
大家發(fā)現(xiàn)，從本篇開始，我重溫經(jīng)典時(shí)分成兩步：1.一開始，大體的印象，以我的視角透視作者描述一個(gè)場(chǎng)景一種情緒一個(gè)人物等，直面客觀世界的發(fā)生，看，作者如何妙筆生花，寫出雋語佳句。這樣做的好處是為了讓讀的人，把關(guān)注文字的奇奇妙妙，困惑于感嘆于作者文字的猜測(cè)和回味，轉(zhuǎn)變成，你和我和作者站在同一個(gè)事實(shí)、場(chǎng)景、性格前，品味怎樣落筆的思路。2. 對(duì)其中的用詞，用語，用句，稍加評(píng)點(diǎn)，點(diǎn)到即可，因?yàn)樵谥販亟?jīng)典的過程中，你或許過于專注單詞的層面而忽視了整體的結(jié)構(gòu)，提醒你，結(jié)構(gòu)更具偉力，何況單詞也是結(jié)構(gòu)在詞匯層面的產(chǎn)物，領(lǐng)悟到此，不虛我寫你讀！
